Dr. Benson and I recently traveled to the front range to go to a regional nutrition symposium, BoulderFest. We go almost every year in order to stay up to date on the latest trends in the nutrition and hear about the cutting edge science in our industry, we also get to hear some great lectures on all sorts of health care topics.
This year the convention featured a keynote address from acclaimed author of Seed of Deception, Jeffrey M. Smith. His lecture has very informative and brought up some significant issues about the true dangers of genetically modified foods. There are some starteling statistics that really motivated me to be much more diligent about our refusal to buy genetically modified foods.
Mr. Smith asserts that a simple 15% of the consumers refusing to purchase GMO foods would shift the market away from GMO as it has in the EU. I encourage all to read the book Seeds of Deception or see the movie The World According to Monsanto. They are available in our waiting room and as part of our lending library.
I also strongly encourage all of my patients to avoid GMO foods, at the grocery store and out to eat at our favorite restaurants.
